Memorizing Digits of Pi

The current record for most digits of pi memorized was set on November 20, 2005 by Chao Lu, at 67,890 digits of pi! Many people try to memorize many digits of pi. I have memorized over 500 so far and have a mnemonic to help me memorized them quickly. The mnemonic is as follows:

1 is t or d

2 is n

3 is m

4 is r

5 is l

6 is g

7 is a hard c or k

8 is f or v

9 is b, p or q

0 is a sh

You can create words using this mnemonic putting vowels and consonants that are not a part of the system in between the consonants that represent numbers. For example: 2258 can be "no null of", "non laugh", etc, "Pi Day" translates to 91, and so on. This system works because words are easier to remember than numbers. You can also tweak the system if you want to, as long as you remember which consonant or sound represents each number.
